Federer, Muguruza win 2017 Wimbledon

Roger Federer defeated Croatian tennis player Marin Cilic to win the Wimbledon title! The win, 6-3, 6-1, 6-4 was accomplished in an hour and 41 minutes at the All England Lawn and Tennis Club in Wimbledon, England. Roger Federer has now claimed his 8th Wimbledon Title (a record breaker) and his 19th Grand Slam at the age of 35. The victory makes him the first player to win the Wimbledon title without dropping a set since the great Bjorn Borg did in 1976.

Spanish player Garbine Muguruza defeated Venus Williams in the women’s Wimbledon Tournament in a 7-5, 6-0 win taking home the Wimbledon title for her first Wimbledon Grand Slam Trophy. Muguruza is the first player to defeat both Selena and her sister Venus in the grand slam finals.

In the Men’s Doubles tournament Lukasz Kubot and Marcelo Melo beat Oliver Marach and Mate Pavic in a 5-7, 7-5, 7-6 (2), 3-6, 13-11 victory.
In the Women’s Doubles tournament Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina won 6-0, 6-0 over Chan Hao-ching and Monica Niculescu.
