U.S. Hosts 2014 Davis Cup at Petco Park

The Davis Cup: United States Vs. Great Britain is scheduled to be played at the Petco Park in San Diego, CA from January 31, 2014 through February 2, 2014. The United States will host a rematch of the Davis Cup tie, which is the first time it has ever happened. The tie happened at the Cricket Club in Boston back in 1900.

The Americans are leading 11-7 and have won the last four meetings with Great Britain. The last time the Brit’s defeated the United States is back in 1935.

Team Captain for the American team is Jim Courier with his Team members being John Isner with single ranking of 13, Sam Querrey with single ranking of 51, Bob Bryan with doubles ranking of 1 and his brother Mike Bryan with the same ranking.  Team Great Britain will be captained by Leon Smith with team members being Andy Murray with singles ranking of 4, James Ward with single rankings of 165, Kyle Edmund with singles ranking of 372 and Colin Fleming with doubles ranking of 30.

Team Captain Courier says this about Petco Park: “I think it’s going to be a special site, I think the players and the fans are going to really enjoy that environment. I’ve only seen a tennis court set up in a baseball stadium one time back in Toronto, in 1990, an indoor tournament there. To play outside in nice weather in San Diego in February against a great team like Great Britain, with all the history with the US playing against Great Britain in Davis Cup, I think it’s going to be a special moment for everyone involved.”
