The All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC) is a private tennis club that was founded in 1868. It was renamed the All England Croquet and Lawn Tennis Club in 1877 when it hosted the first Lawn Tennis Championships, which were a men’s singles event.
Centre Court is the main court used for Wimbledon Tournaments. It is the most widely known court in the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club and arguably the most famous tennis court in the world. Centre Court was built in 1922 and currently holds 13,810 spectators for the Wimbledon Tennis Tournament.
Centre Courts only regular use is for the two weeks a year that the Wimbledon Championships take place. Centre Court will also be used for the tennis competition at the 2012 Summer Olympics. Centre Courts latest renovation was made last year, when the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club added a retractable roof to make tennis tournaments playable under any weather condition.
