Federer & Williams win 2015 Western & Southern Open

World No. 3 tennis pro Roger Federer took home the Western & Southern Open title on Sunday, August 23, 2015. Federer beat Novak Djokovic in a 7-6 (7/1), 6-3 win making it Federer’s seventh Cincinnati Masters title of his career. The 17-time Serbian Grand Slam winner defended his 87th career ATP title and claimed his 24th trophy in an ATP Masters 1000 event.

In the women’s tennis tournament, Serena Williams defeated Romanian Pro Player Simona Halep in a 6-3, 7-6(5) win. The victory is Williams second Cincinnati Masters title in a row, winning the Rookwood trophy. The World No. 1 player is going into the US Open anticipating becoming the first professional player since Steffi Graf to win all Grand Slams in a calendar year.
